Warhammer 40,000: Mortal Gods

Chapter 1039 Old Dog

"I'm really old."

Eisenhorn knocked his head, trying to wake up his groggy brain.

He suddenly woke up from his deep sleep and sat up. This violent movement caused Eisenhorn's waist and chest to ache.

The old judge got up by the armrest of a charger in the utility room, walked out of the utility room to the corridor, and walked along the corridor for about ten minutes to enter a weapons warehouse.

When he saw the Tyrone-made power armor displayed in the weapons warehouse, Eisenhorn suddenly realized that he had taken the wrong path.

He returned to the original path and walked in the maze-like corridor for five or six minutes before entering the public toilet he really wanted to go to.

Facing the mirror, Eisenhorn looked at his face.

Old and decadent.

White hair.

After so long, everything has changed. The only thing that has not changed is the stinky face that made people paralyzed in an operation.

This decaying body has been running for too long. The life extension technology used without much resources and money has extended the running time of this decaying body to the limit. After the Eye of Terror was closed, Eisenhorn's psychic talent was greatly weakened, which made this body decay faster.

Eisenhorn has become accustomed to looking at himself in the mirror like this. He does not hate this decaying body. Instead, he is grateful that this body can still persist after being ravaged by him, instead of turning himself into a waste lying on the bed with a tube inserted.

The Inquisitor rubbed his face, and then walked out of the bathroom after feeling a little more sober, called a drone to show the way to the bridge of this Inquisition warship.

When he stepped into the bridge, everyone subconsciously glanced at him, and then lowered their heads to continue working.

Except for one person.

"Look who's here?"

The Inquisitor, who was wearing gorgeous Lord Inquisitor clothing and standing in front of the specially made gorgeous power armor admiring the equipment, turned his head.

The Inquisitor who filled his ship with a large number of Talonian artifacts was none other than the unlucky guy named Chak, who was abandoned by his father of the Mechanicus.

However, Chak, the unlucky guy, is doing well now. Although his relationship with his father is still tense, he is still the offspring of a Forge General when he was young, and is still the only way for the Inquisition to communicate with the Talonians.

"Eisenhorn." Chak walked towards Eisenhorn and called his name, "An old dog of the Inquisition, loyal, vigilant...."

Eisenhorn had a blank expression on his face. He had no emotion at all when Chak called him "old dog", because he no longer cared about these workplace conflicts.

After being investigated several times by the Inquisition for some past events, Eisenhorn should have been executed, but the Regent intervened.

Eisenhorn survived, but he was no longer the Inquisitor who was qualified to act independently. He was demoted to an apprentice.

Chak's apprentice.

To be honest, Eisenhorn actually had a good impression of Chuck, because Chuck treated him as an equal at first, until the two of them had a conflict.

When Chuck was about to completely replace the Talon equipment for his Inquisitors, Eisenhorn reminded him not to forget his identity and to distinguish between personal relationships and official business.

"Everyone, put down what you are doing." Chuck stretched out his wrinkled hand, and his old face still looked at his subordinates with a bright and clear gaze.

Everyone in the bridge looked at Chuck.

"Everyone, listen to the barking of this old dog." Chuck said, "Otherwise, how can we realize what our identity is, how can we realize that we and the Talon people are in opposition to each other in the affairs of the Inquisition?"

"Look at this old dog." A female inquisitor named Reina, who always supports Chuck unconditionally, said, "It has been tortured and bruised by those ugly and stubborn old guys in the Inquisition, but it still sticks to its duty of guarding the house in its weak breath. Oh... it's touching."

"Can you humiliate me after I say what I want to say?" Eisenhorn said.

Chuck was stunned for a moment, then nodded slowly.

"Go to Barron." Eisenhorn said, "I got a revelation that we should go to this place to investigate."

With Eisenhorn's position on this ship, when he said these words, he should have been ridiculed and even more severely humiliated.

Although Chuck's abilities in all aspects are not very good, he is a sensible person in the strict sense.

Just as Chuck's actions when he investigated the Talon forces, which were only the size of a galaxy at that time, in the Talon galaxy, reflected.

In serious matters, Eisenhorn's opinion is very important.

"How likely do you think your revelation is real, rather than a weird dream of your aging brain?" Chuck asked seriously.

Eisenhorn didn't know how to explain.

He was not even sure whether the scene in the revelation nightmare was the scene he had personally experienced that year.

After a moment of silence, Eisenhorn said: "My intuition tells me that we should go there."

"..." Chuck neither agreed nor denied, turned around and sat in the command seat. He pondered for a moment and suddenly ordered everyone in the bridge: "Go to Barron."

The ship sailing to the front line of the battle between humans and space monsters stopped immediately, changed its direction, and turned its bow to face the rear.

The invisible and anti-detection force field was deployed around the ship, and the new hypersonic engine rushed forward like a bullet shot out of a gun barrel after it started running.

The ship soon stopped in a star system called Barron.

"Are you sure we should investigate this?" Chuck walked to the porthole and looked down at the quiet imperial worlds. "This is behind the front-line war zone. This is not even a place where the transport fleet will pass. This damn place has not even been recruited by the Astra Militarum because of its small population. The Emperor's tears have never fallen here."

Eisenhorn ignored Chuck's doubts and turned around to walk out of the bridge.

"Wait." Chuck said, "You are going to go out in person? Are we going to conduct an investigation or take you out for a relaxing outing?"

Eisenhorn stopped and realized that he was already very old, and then suddenly found that he was still very young in his heart.

This kind of youth does not refer to age, but the mentality of youth.

No matter what problems or troubles you encounter, face them and deal with them without considering anything else. This is the mentality of Eisenhorn when he was young.

"Give him a shot." Chuck ordered the apprentice.

The young apprentice immediately stepped forward and inserted a tube of potion used to improve physical fitness in a short period of time into Eisenhorn's neck.

After feeling his physical condition quickly improve, Eisenhorn walked out of the bridge in silence.

Chuck put on his power armor and followed his apprentice and guards out.
