In history, two years later in November, Turkey adopted a new constitution through referendum. General Evren became the seventh president of the Republic of Turkey directly according to the new constitution. Without Evren's strong measures, Turkey would have been in turmoil! He advocated the principle of Kemal's secular founding, opposed the incitement of Islam to interfere in politics, strengthened the supremacy of the state and the authority of the law, encouraged the development of private enterprises, advocated strengthening relations with the United States and the European Community, and remained loyal to NATO. In 1990, as his presidency ended, he left the presidency and handed it over to the next president who came to power through elections.

Unfortunately, in later life, Evren was arrested by the authorities for launching a coup and sentenced to life imprisonment. Politics is dirty, and this statement is never wrong.

In short, the current Turkish head of state, Evren, came to power through a coup. He is a tough figure. It is absolutely impossible to ask him to bow to the Soviet Union now!

Evren agreed to the United States' use of Turkey to attack Iraq because he was absolutely loyal to NATO.
