Chapter 607 Kurds

If any nation seeks to establish its own country simply because they have established their own country in history, the world would have been in chaos long ago! The entire world structure has already been formed. If we forcibly separate the countries that have existed in history from the existing structure, it will only lead to more wars and deaths!

Israel succeeded. Their success was built on the support of the entire Western world, on repeated wars, and on countless corpses!

And the Kurds have always dreamed of establishing their own country!

The Kurds are mainly distributed in the Zagros Mountains and the Taurus Mountains, which belong to Türkiye, Iran, Iraq and Syria, with a small number scattered in Lebanon, Afghanistan, Jordan and other countries.

The terrain here is rugged, easy to defend but difficult to attack. As one of the oldest indigenous peoples in West Asia, the Kurds are strong and good at fighting. Although they have always failed, they have always been in struggle. They want to establish their own country, Kurdistan.

Kurdistan means "homeland of the Kurds", but unfortunately, this is just their ideal. Since the 8th century, the Kurds have been slaughtered by the Turks, Persians and Arabs in turn. In the 19th century, Kurdistan was divided into two parts, most of which was incorporated into the Ottoman Empire, and the rest belonged to Persia. In the early 20th century, Kurdistan was divided into five parts, belonging to Turkey, Iran, British Iraq, French Syria and the Soviet Union.

This situation has led to greater complexity in the region. For example, countries that have conflicts with each other will support reactionary forces in each other's territory. Simply put, Iraq and Iran are supporting the Kurds in each other's territory to disrupt each other.

This support reached its climax during the Iran-Iraq War, and even in Iraq, an army composed exclusively of Kurds in Iran was established, which launched an attack on the Iranians under the leadership of Iraq.

All of this became a thing of the past with the end of the Iran-Iraq War. Under the mediation of the Soviet Union, Iraq and Iran stopped supporting the Kurds in each other's territory, and the Kurds fell dormant again.

The Iraqi Kurds are the largest ethnic minority in Iraq, living in four provinces in northern Iraq. They have a population of more than 4 million, accounting for about one-fifth of the total population. Iraq is also quite troubled by these people.

Historically, the Kurds have launched 11 armed uprisings against the Anglo-Iraqi Treaty and the rule of the old dynasty. And even after the establishment of the Republic of Iraq, armed conflicts continued.

The northern region of Iraq has a rugged terrain, rich oil resources, and is self-sufficient in agricultural and animal husbandry products. Therefore, for the Kurds, if they occupy this place and establish their own country, they can live very comfortably. Unfortunately, their actions to split the country will naturally be ruthlessly hit! Only after the Gulf War in later generations, with the support of Western forces, a no-fly zone was established in northern Iraq, causing Saddam to lose control of the north. After the United States launched a war wantonly and completely overthrew Saddam's rule, the Kurds no longer engaged in secession, because the entire Iraqi country was under their control, and the president of Iraq was a Kurd!

This also fully demonstrates the Kurds' nature of divisiveness. To put it simply, it can be summed up in two words: power.

Now, during Saddam's rule, the Iraqi regime was very tough and the Kurds could not cause any trouble at all. Unfortunately, with the beginning of the war, Iraq transferred a large number of troops from the north to participate in the war in the south, which provided an opportunity for the Kurds.

Especially now that they have the help of the US military, the Kurds’ centuries-old ideal is about to be realized!

Standing on the Mosul City Hall building, Jalal Talabani is in high spirits.

Jalal was born in the northeastern Kurdish region in 1933. As early as 1947, when he was only 13 years old, he secretly organized the Kurdish Student Union and began to engage in the Kurdish liberation movement. It can be said that his whole life was fighting for the liberation of the Kurds. After that, he joined the Kurdish Democratic Party. In 1951, the 18-year-old Jalal was elected as a member of the party's central committee.

In 1961, Jalal participated in the armed uprising launched by the Kurds and fought in northern Iraq, but was later suppressed.

In 1964, the Kurdistan Democratic Party split, and Jalal, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party ZJ, chose to leave the party. After the Kurdish uprising failed again in 1975, Jalal formed the Kurdistan Patriotic Union.

As a staunch revolutionary, he has been engaged in anti-government activities all his life. Unfortunately, after Saddam took over Iraq, the government's power was greatly strengthened, and he was even less capable of leading the Kurdish uprising. Seeing his career declining day by day, he was very anxious.

So, when the Americans came to him, he agreed without much consideration. The Kurds wanted to establish their own country, but it was impossible to rely on their own strength, so they had to find a strong foreign aid! And now, what foreign aid is more suitable than the United States?

Before the arrival of the US army, Jalal launched an uprising again. This time, he directly chose Iraq’s third largest city, Mosul!

The local garrison in Mosul only had more than a thousand people! After Jalal's Kurdish armed forces surrounded the local garrison, the local garrison surrendered without much resistance. The elite troops had been transferred away, leaving behind a mob.

At the same time, it was also because of the help of the United States! When they launched the uprising, an advance force of the United States, the Delta Special Forces, cooperated with their operations, attacked the command agency, cut off communications, and took down the government building. Everything went very smoothly.

Mosul, the largest city in the north! If we take it, millions of Kurds will respond with a single call! The establishment of Kurdistan is just around the corner!

"Congratulations, Mr. Jalal." At this moment, a voice sounded in Jalal's ears.

Jalal turned around and looked at Hitten, the CIA agent and head of the Middle East region. It was he who came in person to negotiate with Jalal this time, which led to the cooperation between the two sides.

"We still need a lot of weapons, and we need to build our own army," Jalal said. "I hope you can fulfill your promise."

The US promise is to provide weapons to the Kurds so that they can form their own army! Although they have armed forces now, they are only at the level of guerrillas. They need to reach the level of regular troops, not only light weapons, but also airplanes, artillery and tanks. All of these require support from the US!
