Chapter 349: Iron Warriors Seasons Part 3
Season 34, Part 3
The alarm sounded in the communication array, and it came just in time. After more than ten seconds of time for the Iron Warriors to hide, a series of green lights flashed in the dim sky, leaving a mark like a tunnel that interfered with time and space, sending mortar shells shrouded in green mist to the trenches where they were hiding.
Within a thousand meters, huge explosions swept across the earth, and the blazing air waves brushed over the iron helmets of the soldiers. Broken stones hit the grids of the visors. The Iron Warriors did not waver. Only when the entropy field data displayed in the instrument changed, or the green evil light leaked from the falling poison gas bomb, did they begin to shift the position of long-range attack according to the signal from the command chain.
"This kind of ammunition again." Sergeant Zoran whispered, "What on earth is this?"
"Never mind," said Dantioch. Even through the helmet, the soldier could imagine the cold lines of the battalion commander's short stubble chin moving when he spoke the command, "Do your job."
Sergeant Zoran nailed the four sharp claw-shaped brackets of the detector into the rock formation, and then adjusted the tightness of each screw according to the geological conditions.
The artillery fire in the distance continued, and the team carrying heavy firepower was covering in front. They were not sure whether the enemy's missiles that flew into the clouds and fell were aimed at them. In the battles in the past six months, they have realized that the Hruds do not seem to fully master the power they can use.
Of course, this does not mean that their alien dark technology cannot play a role in destroying the army, and the Iron Warriors were ordered to preserve their own strength as much as possible before launching an attack.
This is just an insignificant battle among the countless battles in the Great Crusade. They cannot add another trouble to the Primarch to rebuild the legion after the war.
Dantioch turned his head slightly, which meant that he had received new instructions. Zoran could see the hidden meaning of the battalion commander's action at a glance.
"I have good news for you, Zoran."
"What?"
"Wait until you have finished the instrument." Dantioch kept it a secret, which proved that what he was going to say was absolutely good news.
Zoran raised his eyebrows in his helmet, quickened his movements, pressed the throttle, and focused on adjusting the parameters on the instrument.
This instrument is used to collect the parameters of the stasis field required to resist the Hrud entropy field.
The experiments carried out by the Mechanicus have proved that the idea of the Primarch Perturabo is successful. They have indeed found a way to statically resist the entropy field, but once it is applied to the complex and changeable dynamic battlefield environment, a small error in the preset parameters can send the entire fortress into the sky. They must control all data in real time.
If Perturabo really intends to completely destroy everything in the Satrada Abyss, and the Primarch can get enough funds from the Terra Ministry of the Interior, then throwing the stasis field all over the ground will indeed be an effective means.
"I'm almost done..." Zoran said. Before he finished speaking, their position in the distance began to make terrifying irregular noises. It was hard to tell what kind of big thing the Hrud were planning there.
Dantioch was paying attention to the slightest movement in the war zone. When the ground under their feet began to fluctuate strangely and a subtle dark green light suddenly jumped out of the broken stone slabs, Dantioch pulled Zoran up and dragged the sergeant away, and dodged when something like an excavator or a crusher came out of the underground tunnel, making the Hrud's surprise attack fail.
Zoran reacted quickly, loaded the explosives, and fired while retreating, trying to stay away from the range of the entropy field. Several soldiers who stayed around to defend immediately gathered together, pointed their guns at the changes here, and analyzed what was in the eyepiece image.
Whether observed with the naked eye or thermal imaging, the Hruds do not look like static creatures. The distorted time turns them into a mass of black shadows or a pile of overclocked jumping atoms. Fortunately, this will not interfere with the aiming of heavy machine guns.
"The temporary fortifications have been dug through again," Zoran roared, annoyed that his equipment debugging failed and was interrupted. "Where did they come from?"
Although the fleet's foundry is running at full speed, each newly produced entropy monitoring device is still precious, and the limited energy cannot afford to be wasted.
"Underground," Dantioch said, and a rotating ammunition passed by him one meter above his head and fell to the back. "That's why we need a heavy infantry team that does not rely on fortifications to fight."
"But we don't," Zoran said, stepping up the attack, and tacitly weaving a firepower network with other iron warriors.
They were located in an area with obvious undulating terrain, which was a natural obstacle for the enemy's missiles with serious height control problems. When the enemy was forced to reduce the flight speed of the missiles due to the hit rate, the ability of these missiles to break through the defense line was also weakened.
Their Primarch had always told them that the battlefield was another forge, and at least half of the elements inside the battlefield must be under the full control of the forger.
"I was just about to tell you, we will have it soon." Dantioch said calmly, calibrating the artillery's interception system for missiles and calling for air support. He knew that there was a fleet of aircraft on standby nearby, with sufficient ammunition and equipped with a new type of air command and early warning aircraft, which was very suitable for the combat environment here.
"Support?" The Space Marine thought for a moment and guessed a possibility.
He suddenly felt guilty towards the Gene Father. Everyone knew that Perturabo didn't mind cooperating with most of the legions, but the Lord of Steel also didn't like asking for help. He believed that asking for help in the middle of the field was an interference with the internal command chain of the legion, which would make him lose some control over the entire battlefield.
And now, Perturabo sent a signal to ask for help from other legions, which was undoubtedly because of their own lack of ability, which brought trouble to their beloved father.
More Hrud were emerging from the cave that was just broken by the crusher. Dantioch decided to abandon this temporary position and leave room for air support. He had seen some chaotic fluctuations in the clouds on the south side.
In the local communication array, Dantioch began to command his reconnaissance team to retreat in batches. The Hrud who emerged from the tunnel had a strange obsession with him and Zoran, and kept sticking to them.
"The Death Guard and the Blood Angels have deployed outside the Satrada Abyss," Dantioch decoded the information he had just received and made it public in the channel, "The Night Demon Court has completed the docking with our Primarch, and the Imperial Fists are on their way, and it is expected to take nine Terran days."
When he first heard this information, Dantioch himself was also shocked.
The number of supporting legions was completely beyond his comprehension. Even though he soon learned that the Death Guard and the Blood Angels were two newly established legions that happened to be free, and the Night Demon Court was completely an uninvited guest, this could not change his surprise.
"Death Guard and Blood Angels?"
"They used to be the Dusk Raiders and the Immortal Nine." Dantioch stared at the flowing data in front of him and quickly added that the battle in Satrada made them miss the rebirth of the two legions, "Okay, let's support Michael again, and then prepare to withdraw..."
The interference of the channel suddenly came, and their electronic equipment was smoking, and they lost complete data support in an instant. Maybe it was entropy that interfered with them, or maybe it was some other unknown enemy situation. Dantioch knocked down a few more Hruds, watching their bodies decompose and give off a foul stench.
The newly emerged Hruds prepared new gun ports, and Dantioch was about to respond, but suddenly there was a burst of explosions from the squeaking creatures, which should be similar to the self-destructive explosion caused by the leakage of high-explosive fuel. This kind of thing always happens in the opponent's weapons.
This should be a good thing for the Iron Warriors, but Dantioch found that he was too close, and the scope of the hole they dug collapsed due to the explosion was too far.
He and Zoran fell into the cave hidden by the Hrud below.
Continuing to talk about the comedy moment of the Betanjamon Campaign Book:
"Sanguinius personally went to the core system of the star cluster and tried to integrate the scattered loyalist forces, but due to the lack of a clear command structure between the defenders, the army fighting on hundreds of fronts could not be unified, and thus suffered setbacks."
↑ Evaluation is No wonder 13 wrote the Holy Codex, the three loyalist legions struggled for several years and just couldn't put together a chain of command.
