Reversing Greek Mythology

Chapter 213 I Want Half of Thessaly

The earliest inhabitants of ancient Greece were the Pelasgians from Western Asia.

This is the prototype of the story in mythology that Zeus brought the Phoenician princess Europa from Western Asia to Crete.

The prototype of Deucalion, the ancestor of mankind in mythology, is Deucalion, the king of Crete.

Because of the frequent exchanges with Western Asian civilization and North African civilization, the ancient Greeks obtained food through animal husbandry and agriculture.

Four thousand years ago, the nomadic tribes of the Indo-European language family migrated from the north to the Thrace region, becoming a symbol of barbarians in the eyes of the ancient Greeks, and one of them invaded the Thessaly Plain and integrated into the Greek world with their gods.

The nomadic people who invaded the Thessaly region were called Lapiths, and they were vilified as the Centaurs, half-man and half-horse, in mythology.

The gods they worshiped were Prometheus, Heron, Chiron and Aeolus.

In mythology, the images of Prometheus and Chiron overlap. Prometheus is the god of wisdom who guides mankind and the god who created mankind.

Chiron is the ancestor of the Centaurs and a wise man who cultivated many heroes.

Because the Centaurs are the degraded and vilified images of the Lapiths in mythology, Prometheus and Chiron are two different images of the same god.

Heron and Aeolus are also the ancestors of the Lapiths, and they are set as descendants of Prometheus in mythology.

According to the logic of mythology, they may be different images derived from the same god, or they may be different gods worshipped by the Lapiths.

Because they are all deified ancestor gods, they are included in the same genealogy.

Although the Lapiths are nomadic people, under the influence of the Greeks, Cretheus established the city of Iolcus in the bay of Thessaly and passed the throne to his son Aeson.

Another son of Cretheus, Phyres, also established the city of Phrys with the help of his father.

In addition to Aeson and Phires, Cretheus later gave birth to twin brothers Pelias and Neleus with his wife, Tyro, who was also his niece.

When the two brothers grew up, Pelias killed his brother Aeson and expelled his nephew Inason in order to seize the city of Iolcas.

When Inason grew up, in order to take back the throne from Pelias, he followed Pelias's request to go on the Golden Fleece Journey, but was eventually expelled by Pelias' son Acastus because he had no strength.

Acastus, the young king of Iolcas, has inherited the throne for ten years.

Unlike Pelias, who killed his brother Aeson to seize the throne, Acastus can be called an impeccable king.

It is precisely because Acastus is not an ambitious robber that he becomes the target of Peleus.

After Luo Yin left Thebes with 300 soldiers, in order to reach Iolcas as quickly as possible, he directly requisitioned six warships and sailed from the Eubia Bay between the Thebes region and Eubia Island to the port of Iolcas.

After two days and two nights of sailing, the six warships arrived at the port of Iolcas on the morning of the third day.

Iolcas.

Royal Palace.

Upon learning that Luo Yin had brought reinforcements, King Acastos sent an envoy to invite Luo Yin to the palace.

When Luo Yin walked into the palace hall, he saw Acastos, who was about 25 years old and wearing a golden crown, sitting on the throne.

After meeting Luo Yin's eyes, Acastos, who was originally full of sorrow, smiled brightly and said.

"My dear friend, welcome to Iolcas at this critical moment."

"Dear King Acastos, I am glad to meet you."

Luo Yin looked around the empty hall and asked with some surprise.

"Don't the nobles of Iolcas plan to intervene in this war?"

Acastus said with a wry smile.

"Because my hope of winning is very slim, the nobles don't want to be enemies with Peleus."

"I heard that the king of Frey City, your cousin Admetus, asked you to marry Alcestis. Didn't he support Iolcas City?"

"Although Admetus agreed to help me, he asked me to send my sister Alcestis to Frey City first."

After hearing what Acastus said, Luo Yin immediately looked at him with sympathy.

"It seems that Admetus wants to get something for nothing, and only wants to get Princess Alcestis, and doesn't really plan to help you."

Although in mythology, Alcestis is a famous loyal wife.

But Admetus, who became Alcestis's husband, is old enough to be Alcestis's father.

In other words, Admetus already had a wife and children. He couldn't be so stupid as to intervene in a losing war for Alcestis. He just wanted to use this war to cheat a young and beautiful bride from Acastus.

In the myth, Alcestis was willing to die for Admetus. Perhaps it was not loyalty and love, but Alcestis would rather die than continue to face her aging husband who was old enough to be her father.

"My dear friend! Even my relatives don't want to intervene in this war that I have no hope of winning. Why are you willing to help me?"

"Because as long as I come, it means that the goddess of victory is on your side."

Luo Yin said confidently.

"Acastus, now let's discuss how to divide the spoils and the reward I deserve for helping you! If I don't ask you for expensive gifts, I'm afraid you won't believe that I really want to help you."

Acastos nodded and said.

"You are right, I really can't think of a reason for you to help me."

"Then let's talk about the division of spoils! Although the King of Iolcas is nominally the great king who rules the entire Thessaly region, you can't even protect yourself. So after this war, I will divide the Thessaly region into two regions, the southeast and the northwest. The northwest region of the Thessaly region, including Mount Olympus, will become my territory, and you will be the great king who rules the southeast region of the Thessaly region in the future."

Luo Yin wanted half of the Thessaly region, including Mount Olympus. At other times, Acastos would never accept Luo Yin's request.

Now Acastos is facing the crisis of death and destruction of his country, so he doesn't think Luo Yin's request is difficult for him to accept.

Seeing that Acastos did not refute, Luo Yin continued.

"Acastus, since you don't object to half of Thessaly becoming my spoils, let's talk about the reward now. I hope you can give me your sister Princess Alcestis."

Acastus said with his eyes wide open in surprise.

"Haemon! You want to be my sister Alcestis' husband just like Admetus? But I heard that you not only have a fiancée, but also many girls around you who will become your concubines."

"You misunderstood, I am not like Admetus."

Luo Yin explained with a smile.

"Admetus wants to replace his old and ugly wife, so he will let the young and beautiful Alcestis become his queen. But I just want you to give Alcestis to me as a reward for my assistance to you. Alcestis will not become my wife, or even my concubine."
