Chapter 13: Feast

"Exclude. Google search reading"

"Exclude..."

Jiang Yuan would occasionally operate the mouse to remove the fingerprints he had seen from the list. In this way, the fingerprints given by the software would not be repeated in the next wave of matching.

Despite this, the complexity of fingerprint matching has not changed.

Every time Jiang Yuan re-marked the feature points, he had to re-read 150 fingerprints, an average of 30 seconds to read one, and it would take an hour to read a group.

This is also caused by the complexity of fingerprints. If it were an irrelevant fingerprint, you could turn the page at a glance, but the fingerprints matched by the computer were relatively similar, so it would take some effort to exclude them.

However, this is the work of fingerprint matching, especially for difficult fingerprints, which always hover between "Did I mark the feature points correctly?" and "Is there this fingerprint in the fingerprint library?"

Jiang Yuan was no exception. When he fine-tuned the fingerprint for the fourth time, he stopped involuntarily.

"I should adjust a larger one." Jiang Yuan unconsciously burst out this idea.

Originally, he was fine-tuning within a 20% range, but as more and more fingerprints were excluded, by the third time when there were 150 fingerprints, the fingerprints matched by the system were already very exaggerated. Many fingerprints looked completely unrelated to human eyes. After two deformations, the system could not be expected to sort them accurately. Otherwise, Jiang Yuan would not have to sort 150 fingerprints.

But at this time, Jiang Yuan thought of other colleagues.

They must also know how to fine-tune. Moreover, in terms of patience, the police officers working on fingerprint posts are not weak. Looking at fingerprints for a few hours is nothing. During the fingerprint battle, the participating police officers have to look at fingerprints for 15 to 20 days. The powerful experts can look at hundreds of thousands of fingerprints. It is normal to look at thousands of fingerprints for a case.

Jiang Yuan's fingers moved slightly, and slowly indented the suspect's fingerprint 30% to the middle.

This number is definitely exaggerated. Normal deformation cannot change to this extent. However, considering that the probability of the second half of the 150 candidate fingerprints is already low to a certain extent, Jiang Yuan decided to choose a ratio that no normal fingerprint expert would choose.

Of course, 30% was not drawn casually. Jiang Yuan still made the edits based on the more stable area in the middle.

After quickly marking the new feature points, Jiang Yuan clicked OK again, and after a short wait, he saw the newly refreshed candidate review list.

Still looking from top to bottom, as expected, the similarity of the fingerprints in the front was extremely insufficient.

Jiang Yuan quickly clicked "Exclude" and swiped down. Because he had seen it many times, the suspect's fingerprints were firmly remembered in his mind, and he could make a judgment by just looking at the matching fingerprints on the right.

If proving the match requires multiple considerations, proving exclusion is relatively simple. As long as there are obvious similarities and differences, you can click Exclude.

This time, Jiang Yuan only took 20 minutes to swipe the 90th fingerprint.

When he habitually clicked the right button, Jiang Yuan paused.

The 91st fingerprint, the upper middle part, gave Jiang Yuan a sense of déjà vu.

Jiang Yuan sat up a little straighter and checked more carefully.

The difference between two fingerprints can be large or small. In fingerprint identification, to identify the same, first of all, there must be 8 or more feature points that are the same, and secondly, there must be no differences or similarities, or the differences and similarities can be explained.

For the fingerprints that Jiang Yuan is doing now, the two standards for identifying the same are very difficult to achieve, but if the part of fingerprint correction is counted, eight are finally achieved.

Jiang Yuan quickly uploaded the finished picture, wrote the identification instructions for identification, clicked OK, and then breathed a sigh of relief.

It actually matched.

And it was in a group of 91 candidate fingerprints. This low-probability success brought a great sense of accomplishment.

Jiang Yuan leaned back in his chair, picked up the cup, and gulped down a full cup of water. He felt as happy as if he had drunk a whole bottle of iced beer in the coldest days of winter. His forehead was cramping, and he was definitely in a state of overusing his brain.

"Any results?" Wu Jun looked over from the opposite side of the office, and when he saw Jiang Yuan's appearance, he guessed.

Jiang Yuan laughed proudly and said modestly: "It has just been uploaded and needs to be verified by experts."

"Then there is a high probability." Wu Jun was really surprised. He calmed down and looked at Jiang Yuan again, saying: "In fact, this case belongs to our county. If you match the person, just report it directly to Captain Huang. There is no need for expert verification."

"It will be more reassuring to verify it. The fingerprint is seriously deformed." Jiang Yuan paused and smiled: "There is no rush for this day."

"That's right." Wu Jun said with emotion: "If you match the person this time, it means that you have directly solved a backlog case of serious injury."

Jiang Yuan laughed obediently.

The severity of the intentional injury case cannot be compared with the homicide case, but it is also one of the eight major cases in the criminal law. In addition to the backlog case, any police officer who solves such a case will be the most handsome guy in the criminal police team for at least a few months.

Wu Jun himself is just an ordinary forensic doctor. Relying on his rich experience and the only label in the county, he has also had his moments of glory. But looking at Jiang Yuan at this moment, he still can't help but feel envious - if he could have this level of skills when he was young, and could grow so tall, wouldn't he be able to marry a wife who doesn't curse or hit people, doesn't ask for a salary card, cooks delicious meals, and is willing to clean?

"Go home." Wu Jun looked at the time and stood up with a dull look.

It was already 6:30 in the evening, and the normal working time had passed, but on the floor of the Criminal Division, the police officers in each office were still working silently.

The two people who came out of the forensic office looked at each other and locked the door quietly.

"If there is no body, we can only go home. I have to go back to wash clothes today." Forensic Doctor Wu took light steps and spoke in a low voice.

Jiang Yuan nodded and said, "I'll go back for the feast."

"Shh." Wu Jun pulled Jiang Yuan down the stairs, and then he chatted in a relaxed mood: "What feast?"

"Uncle Seventeen's feast." Jiang Yuan looked back at Wu Jun and invited him, "Do you want to go?"

"Why should I go...it's your Uncle Seventeen..."

"You cut it."

"That's too..." Wu Jun was speechless, and said after a while: "I have been a forensic doctor for half my life, and this is the first time I have been invited by a client."

"Are you going?"

Wu Jun shook his head helplessly, and said from his pocket: "Please give me a share, just a pack...half a pack of cigarettes. Light it for him."

Jiang Yuan took the half pack of Yunnan Yunnan cigarettes given by Wu Jun, waved his hand, went to the parking lot, and rode his electric bike home.
